How did I arrive at this Idea
To be honest, via LinkedIn and not in a good way. I got sick of complete strangers making a ‘connection’ with me just so that I would ‘Endorse’ them, after all, chances are if you need to be endorsed by a total stranger then doesn’t it mean that you need to look at your whole game plan?
So, now if you want me to endorse you great, I’ll do it…if you:
- Enter one of my events – as I plan on doing this every year
- Assist in one of the afore-mentioned events
- Donate to the charity for which I am hosting the event.
How can I take part?
Oh that’s easy, I aim to inflict tough country-walking challenges on us all. This year it will be the mammoth Yorkshire Three Peaks. After that I’ll look to setting up some even harder ones: The Helm Wind Walk, The Lake District Seven etc.
How can I help?
Again, you don’t have to do the walk itself, no, you can be a marshal or a guide, attend a drinks / feeding station, donate time and or resources to one of the events. For instance, in order to do the Yorkshire Three Peaks we are going to need:
- Walkers themselves
- Guides, it’s only an easy route if you can read a map or follow directions
- Drinks / food stations
- People to hand out completion certificates
- People to attend to the registrations on the day and to collate any data
- Drivers – getting lots of people (hopefully) to North Yorkshire at ‘early o’clock’ is going to take some coordinating
- Sweepers – people to set off later in order to rescue any that are lost on route
- First aiders, people fall, it’s a fact and we need to make sure they can be got off the route as painlessly as possible
